Photography Sessions

Venue Tour (45 Minutes) - $20

Since it’s a working farm, it’s important that we go over safety protocols. Thus we require that each photographer participates in a tour so that s/he can get the lay of the land before the first shoot.

Single Session (90 Minutes) - $50

The single session rate is based on one client per 90-minutes.

Mini-Session (60 Minutes) - $60 per hour

The photographer can set up in one reserved location on the ranch for at least two hours, which should allow up to three mini-sessions each hour (roughly 20 minutes per hour). We will set out signs to direct clients. Styling and staging is included in the price, if requested and time allows.

Filming - Daily/ Weekly Rates are available, just ask!

Lights; Camera; Action! Film at Golden R. Professional filming is often captured here and allows us to showcase the beauty and versatility of our agricultural products to others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Golden R Photo and Film Venue hours follow our farm hours of operation: sunup to sundown, seven days a week.

We accept Venmo, cash, or checks made out to Golden R.

You can book your tour and/or session by texting 209.915.3772. As a working farm, safety protocols and procedures are reviewed during your tour. Once you know the ropes, you are free to bring your vision to life! Seasonal setups may be booked through the Booking Link.

A single session is up to 90 minutes with one client in multiple locations on the farm. The rate is per client, even if you don’t use the full 90 minutes. For instance, if you spend 60 minutes photographing a senior, then 30 minutes on a maternity shoot, those would be two separate single sessions – unless they’re in the same family. Still not sure? If your clients are splitting a single fee with you, they can split ours as well, otherwise, each group owes separately.

Mini-sessions are in one reserved location on the ranch, paid by the hour (two-hour minimum), with up to three client sessions each hour. We will make a sign to direct clients to your chosen area, and we can arrange special parking for distant locations.

Unfortunately, we do not allow it. We learned that 20 minutes is the optimal number for client overlap, allowing everyone to flow smoothly in and out of the ranch and get the most from their session.

No. We are a photography location, and we welcome all professional and amateur photographers. We do not specifically contract with or endorse any specific photographers. However, we allow you to take your own photos at specialized setups on designated Selfie Days.

If availability allows, we accept same-day appointments.

Absolutely!

Yes, within reason and for a small fee. Please tell us when you book if you’re interested in specific props for your shoot. We have a variety of farm equipment, as well as specific vehicles, tractors, and animals. We will put out a sign to let the other photographers know you’ve requested that item during your session time. We just ask that you use the reserved props first during your session so that they can be made available again for other photographers as soon as possible.

Our equipment is working farm equipment, but we can arrange to have one in the barn for you to use. If you stumble upon a tractor (or any other vehicle) that is not in use, you are welcome to use it in your photo. If you would like to reserve a tractor in a specific location (or do not want a tractor in a specific location), please let us know when you book your session, or before you arrive. This way we can check for any conflicts with previous requests, and be sure we have someone available to move the tractor and put it back. There is a charge to move a tractor or reserve it for a specific spot.

Absolutely! However, please make sure that you take your props with you upon completing your shoot as we do not have a formal lost and found process.

Unfortunately, we cannot allow glitter or confetti due to the negative impact on our fields. It’s messy and dangerous for our ducks and cows.

The venue is primarily outdoors and does not have heaters or A/C in the barn. Therefore, we suggest dressing to accommodate the weather or at least understand what weather you’re exposing yourself to during that time of year.

Yes, we have areas on the ranch where you can change your clothes.

Yes, we love pets and encourage you to take photos of and/or with them. However, please bring bags to pick up after your pet.

Absolutely. We have several calm, friendly cows on the property who are hams for the camera. If you need us to corral a cow out of pasture for you, there is an additional charge. Cows who stick their heads over a fence or otherwise bring themselves into your photo are at no charge.

Yes, you can bring your own horse. However, we will need a staff member there to ensure safety regulations are met. Please let us know about it upon booking the session.

Sorry, but you cannot sit on our cows. Our insurance company says no and it’s best for the cow. You are welcome to stand next to them, pet them, give them hugs, etc.

We have several locations that are covered or barns that are indoor. However, we understand that the majority of our photographers want outdoor scenery and natural light, so there is no charge to cancel your session due to inclement weather. There are few areas of the ranch that are paved roads, so we recommend bringing shoes so that you can get a bit muddy.

We get it, life happens. There is no charge for cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance or due to inclement weather. If you cancel 48 hours or less before your appointment date with expected good weather, you are responsible for the full charge for that canceled session/mini-session hour.
